I learned over the KATHA Yahoogroups that Pinoy Dream Academy is looking for song submissions. Sixteen songs - in the vein, I imagine, of A Moment Like This, Believe, and Inside Your Heaven, among other American Idol I-will-survive-and-triumph-over-adversity tracks - will be chosen, and each composer gets P100,000.00.
Wow. I want in on that action.
And here’s a chance for you to get in on that action, too! LOL Give me a song title that I can use for my entry to the Pinoy Dream Academy songwriting competition. I’ll use the song title I like best, and will give the person who suggested it P3,000 if the song (with your title!) makes it into the finals.

How about:
“Hold On, the Dream Is Still Alive, (Do Not) Release Me From This Competition or You Will See Me Cry”
If that doesn’t win for most Wilson-Phillips song titles in a single title, then I give up.

Andrew: My answer to your scintillating suggestion also comes from Wilson Phillips:
“Give It Up.”

It’s quite original. Hm…

Wow, those are certainly a lot of song titles. I wonder how long it took you to come with them.
I record my demos - including two of four songs on my MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/ganns) - at SoundWeavers Recording Studio in Makati. [http://www.sound-weavers.com] They charge P900 an hour, inclusive of instruments and assistance.
If you’re willing to invest in it, I’ve scheduled a Tuesday night recording session to record my entries. You’re more than welcome to join me there so we can record your entry too; once we start work on your song, however, the recording fees fall on your tab.
God superbless and thanks much!

BUHAY
sa simula ay masaya
ngayon ay puro na problema
ba’t ganito ang buhay ko
puro malas ang natamo
laging inaapakan pagkatao ko
laging nilalamangan
refrain:
wala na bang kaligayahan
wala na bang kaginhawaan
sana ay madarama ko
ang buhay na walang gulo
churos:
kailan kaya darating
ang kasiyahan na aking hiling
kung darating man ang saya
sana ay tuloy tuloy na
sa tuwing akoy nasa simbahan
laging dasal ko’y kaginhawaan
at nakikiusap ng lubos
na sana’y makaraos
pangarap ko’y makaahon sa kahirapan
pangarap ko sanay iyong pagbigyan

Thanks, Ruel. ‘This Time’ was never released to radio. It was an album track on my old band’s indie release. Thankfully, though, I managed to ’sell’ ‘This Time’ to a recording artist who’s including it in a new album coming out very soon. I’m not at liberty to disclose who it is just yet, but I’ll be sure to announce it once it’s final.
There’s a .ph in your email? Ah, kaya pala.
Thanks for the encouragement. I’d advise you to still keep at recording your material. You don’t necessarily need 10 hours if you’re making a demo. If you’re looking for record-release quality, yes, but if you’re just making a demo, so it doesn’t have to be so topnotch. The record labels and talent agencies know what they’re looking for, so no amount of studio gloss will change a poor quality song, and no amount of cheap recording can disguise a hit.
Be blessed!

Intro:
I
Ako nayon ay nag-iisa
Sa madilim kong kahapon
Kahapong di na sana nangyari pa
kaya ngayon ang pagdurusa ay naging banta
sa buhay kong nabalot
sa hirap at dusa
Chorus:
Kung ako’y lalaya sa
kasalanang di ko nagawa
di na sana pagdurusa
ang sa akin ay pinagpala
masakit man ngunit
walang magagawa
kailangang tanngapin pagsubok
nang Maylikha……
ha..ha…
II
Gabi at araw ay
mistulang walang buhay
sa harap nang pader at
malamig na bakal
pag-asa ko ay di na dudungaw
sa bintanang langit lang
ang abot tanaw
III
kabataan ko’y sa kulungan na lumipas
ngunit ang mga pangarap ko
ay di parin maglalaho
at nang magkaroon ng silbi
ang buhay kong ito
na hiram lang sa maykapal
na habang tumatagal ay
nilalamon na ng panahon
Coda:
Tanging tiwala lang at pag-ibig
ang makapagpalaya sa
kasalanang ni kailan di ko nagawa
(repeat chorus)
(Repeat Stanza II and III)
(repeat Chorus)

SWEET LITTLE ANGEL
By: ISTRAP
I.Many years gone passes by
And I miss your sweetest smile
Remembering the days with you
Years to come to say I Love you
Many years I haven’t see your face
And I miss your warm embrace
Until the coldest wind came in the night
I think I have to say
CHORUS I
Come my sweet little angel
Hold me tight and don’t let me go
My sweet little angel
I wish ill never let you go
Oh I missed your smile
And the words I want to hear
Oh please say you love me too
II.Oh I’m afraid to say to you
What my heart want to say for you
I kept praying for my little angel
To stay with me everywhere I go
CHORUS II
When my darkest night had already come
You let me keep to your lovely arms
And when the falling stars came in tonight
I think I have to say
Repeat Chorus:
III.But the time has to say goodbye
To my sweet little angel
But I forgot to say the words
Now I can’t sleep when I think of you
Cause many years I haven’t see your face
And I miss your warm embrace
And when the coldest wind came in the night
I think I’ll have to say
Repeat Chorus:
Oh please say you love me too (5x)

Hi Rodj and istrap!
Those lyrics certainly do communicate a lot of emotion. I eventually ended up not joining the Pinoy Dream Academy competition, but I encourage you and/or your co-composers to record that and take a chance by sending it to the local record labels. You never know.

Time span is too short. I can’t be able to record my songs with my band into that given date. Actually i have composed 14 songs and the genres are all classified as pop rock. If only i have the money I would record my songs by myself agreeing with ganns!!!

Can you please help me find a choral piece entitled “I am.” The first lyrics were: ‘I am the root of David, I am holy holy Lord, God almighty which was and is and is to come, I am, I am that I am, I am… I don’t know the composer so twas really hard. I’ve been searching for it for a year now and i can’t find it. Claire
